"Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator" (Video Game)

Client:  Scottgames
Website:  scottgames.com
Software used:  Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop

Notes: A few of the 40+ retro advertising-style illustrations I created for use in the intro and endings of "Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator" (A.K.A. FNAF 6). Scott was looking for a more serious style for the illustrations depicting the Company's Spokesman and more a cartoony and light-hearted style illustrations for the ones depicting the Franchisee (the Player).  I did a lot of research on advertising illustrations of the 50's and 60's and ultimately ended up developing the two styles seen within the game.

You can see how these were utilized in-game here.

"Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" (Video Game)

Client:  Scottgames
Website:  scottgames.com
Software used:  Adobe Photoshop & Toon Boom Harmony

Notes: Character designs and mouth charts for the main characters in "The Immortal and the Restless", an animated soap opera which appears between nights in "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location". With only 15 days to deliver the completed animation, there was only one day allotted for character design. There are some other earlier concept sketches which I will not shown here because they weren't presented to the client.

If you'd like to see the full animated episodes, you can find them on YouTube.

"Fright Knight" (Video Game)

Client: Global Game Jam 2018 at The University of Missouri - St. Louis
Software Used: Toon Boom Harmony

Notes: Sprite sheets from my 2018 Global Game Jam game, "Fright Knight". In the game you play Mistress Antagotha, a video game end boss seeking revenge against the "hero" who killed her. You haunt Brett Bravery throughout his castle and try to scare him to death by messing with his stuff. Don't get too far away from him though or you'll fade back to the Netherworld.

For fun, I also put together an intro for the game: https://youtu.be/34QPbb7sSW0

"Hannah's Home" (Video Game)

Client: Global Game Jam 2019 at DePaul University
Software Used: Adobe Photoshop and After Effects

Notes: I was in charge of animating the main character and the enemies. Since we only had 48 hours to complete our prototype for the game, speed was crucial.  I took the initial character sketch (created by Randy Field), separated it in Photoshop, then brought it into After Effects for rigging and animation. The enemies were sketches in Photoshop and then animated with a few quick effects in After Effects.

This is a mock-up I created in After Effects to give the programming team an idea of what the game-play might look like. The final prototype of the game can be played here.

"Stab A Panda" Game Card & Box Illustrations

Client: Gozer Games
Website: gozergames.com
Software used:  Toon Boom Harmony

Notes: I was very excited when I heard that my long-time friend and client, Matt Duhan of Gozer Games, had a new game in the works. I was even more excited when he hired me on to do some of the illustrations. As usual, I provided art for some of the game cards. I also designed and illustrated the game box, and created an animated ad.

As this game is currently in the production phase I don't have final cards or a box mock-up to show just yet, but I did get permission to share these images. If you'd like to see what I did for the ad, check out the Animation section of my portfolio.

If you'd like to get the latest news and updates about the game, check them out on Facebook.

Art Test for Pusheen Corporation

Client:  Pusheen Corp.
Website:
pusheen.com
Software used:  Adobe Illustrator & After Effects

Notes: These are storyboards created as part of a spec piece I included with my application to the Pusheen Corporation. They were looking for someone who could write, illustrate and animate in their unique style. As you may have noticed, I'm pretty versatile and can draw in many different styles, but I don't often do "fan art" so I didn't have anything exactly in their style. I decided to create an original story starring their main character which I then illustrated in Adobe Illustrator. In addition, I animated the first few seconds in Adobe After Effects.

"Darling Derstoyer: Lulu Cthulhu" (Comic)

Client: Self
Software: Adobe Illustrator

Notes: Concept art and t-shirt designs I created for my comic book, "Darling Destroyer: Lulu Cthulhu". For the t-shirt designs, I did the initial drawings in pencil then cleaned them up in Adobe Illustrator. I prefer Illustrator to Photoshop for this type of work because I can do my color separations, halftones, and trapping all in the same program and provide a press-ready file to the printer quickly.

"Vampire Werewolf Fairies" Game Card Illustrations

Client: Gozer Games
Website: gozergames.com
Software used:  Photoshop

Notes: Based off of the success of "Zombie Ninja Pirates", Gozer Games brought me back for their sequel game. Much like "Zombie Ninja Pirates", I only had a one or two word prompt to work from. It was a lot of fun trying to think up clever ways to depict each concept while making sure to keep the tone light and funny.

This game posed an added challenge in that Gozer Games had brought on four celebrity contributors to illustrate the character cards for "Vampire", "Werewolf", "Fairy", and "Witch" so each of those cards was in a distinctly different art style. They wanted me to find a way to unify the styles making the game look cohesive. I decided the solution would be to translate the character designs into the same style as the previous game and keep those characters at the focus of each card illustration.

"Zombie Ninja Pirates" Game Card Illustrations

Client: Gozer Games
Website: gozergames.com
Software used:  Photoshop

Notes: I was hired by Gozer Games to illustrate the 50 Action and Object cards for their game. For most cards, all I had was a title like "Constant Moaning" or "Internal Conflict", it was up to me to find an entertaining way to convey that idea in a single image. Gozer Game's motto is "Games should be fun and funny" so more potentially violent subjects like "Walk the Plank" or "Bite" had to be handled carefully.
